At Steppin' Into Tomorrow, we’ve always been about stepping forward, and having our own socks has been a dream for years. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our latest collaboration with Erosi Fashion: the “Natural Steppers.” These aren’t just socks; they’re wearable pieces of art, made with love in Amsterdam, using natural dyeing techniques that honor both creativity and sustainability. In this interview, we had a chat with Roos, the designer behind Erosi Fashion, to learn about her journey, her passion for natural dyeing, and the inspiration behind the socks.

Hi Roos! How would you introduce yourself and Erosi Fashion?

Hi! My name is Roos, and I’m the founder of Erosi Fashion. My brand focuses on environmentally friendly clothing. I work with organic materials, natural dyeing techniques, and upcycling, where I create new pieces from old clothing. For me, fashion is about more than just clothes—it’s wearable art. I want to create pieces that are meaningful and long-lasting, not throwaway fast fashion. At Erosi, we focus on organic, sustainable materials and timeless designs to promote the positive side of fashion.

When did you first try natural dyeing, and what drew you into it?

It was in Bali! I love catsuits and made one there while taking a one-on-one class with a Balinese artist. He taught me how to do batik, and we dyed it using coconut shells. That experience was so special—it felt like a sign that this was something I needed to explore further. Erosi means what nature does to nature, like the patterns and transformations we see in the environment. I came up with the name before I started using natural dyes, but it now feels like a perfect fit. Natural dyeing is so intertwined with nature’s own processes, so in a way, my journey with Erosi has come full circle.

"What I love about natural dyeing is that it feels like a collaboration with nature. I also paint, but with natural dyes, it’s not just me in charge—it’s like nature takes the lead. You follow its rules, but once you understand them, you can really play and create something unique."

For example, I love the magical moment of unfolding a tie-dye piece or seeing the patterns created by ice dyeing - it's like unfolding a gift! It’s always a surprise, each piece is one of a kind, and that keeps it exciting for me. The fabrics take on these beautiful, subtle patterns, almost like marble. Adding this element to my process has been so refreshing—it uses a different part of my brain. It’s calming, playful, and endlessly creative.

Can you tell us about the Natural Steppers and the story behind this collaboration?

The Natural Steppers are crafted from soft, breathable bamboo fabric and dyed with a unique combination of natural ingredients: walnut and iron over a subtle madder root undertone. The second colour combination is dyed using: walnut and iron over a walnut undertone. Each pair is one of a kind, made with love, care, and a commitment to local, sustainable practices right here in NDSM, Amsterdam. These socks are so special to me because they’re part of my journey into natural dyeing. I love how each pair turns out differently, with marble-like patterns that feel like little presents when you unfold them during the dyeing process.

"It’s the organic, unpredictable nature of these patterns that makes them truly unique—tiny pieces of wearable art."

When Steppin' Into Tomorrow approached me to collaborate, I loved the idea of creating something that represents both of our values. Socks felt like the perfect canvas—practical, versatile, and something everyone can use. This project also gave me the chance to experiment and push the boundaries of what I can do with natural dyes. I’m so happy with how they turned out!

What’s next for Erosi Fashion?

For my next collection, I’m focusing on key wardrobe pieces that are versatile and timeless. The main feature is long-sleeve tops with matching scarves made from fabric scraps. I’m also working on catsuits, loose pants, and coordinated sets. I love creating simple designs with unique shapes, and I play a lot with monochromatic outfits. Whether it’s all pink, yellow, or black, these looks are easy to style and make you feel great. My goal is to design pieces that are playful, interchangeable, and inclusive, while keeping them chic and comfortable—almost like pajamas, but elevated.
