Ebony Winter (22) is a Soul and R&B singer-songwriter. With her Sunday vibe, raw voice and riffs and runs inspired by Tori Kelly, she has developed her own style. She has performed at places such as Melkweg in Amsterdam and she gained only more attention after her national television debut when she performed Stevie Wonder's ‘Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing’ live on Humberto op Zaterdag. In March, she released her single 'Celebrate'. At the moment, she is working on new music and a number of bigger projects. Just before her performance at Hidden Gem Studios (see below), we had a moment to catch up on life & music a bit.
My name is Ebony Winter. I'm 22 years old and I'm from Schiedam. And I make mostly R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, a lot of everything basically. Tonight we're gonna see a mix of songs I've released so far and also some unreleased projects.
How do you feel in this current chapter of your life, in your music, in your art?
Busy. I think that's the best way to describe it. I've been working on an EP and another project, also doing some things outside of music. There's just a lot going on, and sometimes I don't really know what to focus on. So I'm just trying to keep it together, but sometimes it's like, ah! But overall I'm still having fun and I think that's the most important thing, so...
If you were to describe the sound of Ebony Winter, how would you describe it?
Personally, I still haven't really figured out myself what my sound is. I'm still very into exploring what it is. And I also don't really want to put a label on it per se, because I'm interested in a lot of genres, and sounds, and I work with a lot of different people so... It's just a lot of everything.

Is there a message you’d like to convey in your music?
I think it's mostly to have fun and just go with the flow. I think that's also the way I approach music myself. I just have fun and release whatever I want. I don't really have a plan, I just do what I want, what I like. And I think that's also the message that I want to convey.
What's in store for Ebony Winter in the near future?
I have some gigs scheduled. I'm working on an EP. I'm working on another project. I think you won't see a lot from that still in this year, but I think in '25 you will, so stay tuned. I think, yeah, once again, just have fun with everything you do. That's the way how I approach life.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Just have fun. There's no issue with not having a plan. Just go ahead and try things out. Tomorrow is another day. Just go ahead and do whatever you feel like doing.
