A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: Rotterdam deep digger Charmaine.
Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight to the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.
Charmaine doesn't play by the rules of genres –and neither conveys just one message with the music she puts forward. She tries to find the axioms between those defined genres and dig deep in those trenches. "It differs every time. I guess I’d like to create a warm feeling or vibe for the listener. But in the end it’s up for your own interpretation. That is one of the great things about music, what you get from it is also a very personal experience."
"This mix is a combination of some old and new found favourites, so I’d say a pretty good reflection of what I’m currently into at home. I really enjoy it when all sorts of sounds can come together in a mix. Especially wherever jazz and funk influences meet each other. My ears love a good drum groove."
Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
Warm feelings of love, longing and melancholy. In this mix I feel like great curiosity and a sense of calmness meet each other somewhat halfway.
Who should release a new album/EP already? Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
Been waiting for a new Erykah Badu album for a little while.
If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?
Some 'Journey Into Outer Space' content would fit perfectly I think. They may actually get to Mars soon, so with that in mind - Space is the Place.
