A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: The soulful, tropical French DJ that goes by the name of Souldade.
Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.
Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
As I recorded this mix in August, I would say excitation, carelessness and sunny vibes.
What message does the music you play convey?
I want my music to carry people away to forgotten dream places, from sunbathed exotic poolsides to moist outmoded clubs. I like the nostalgic vibe some tracks I play can broadcast, while entertaining people and making them dance.
How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?
I always try to record mixes with a large variety of genres, so this mix moves from zouk and afro to italo and more classic disco. Still, I can go through some periods where I focus more on a genre, which is the case here with Zouk and Freestyle (latin / synth-pop genre from the late 80s).
Who should release a new album/EP already?
Eternal Love, right after the one on Planet Trip, vai!
What's magical about music?
The way music tastes federate people across countries, especially our disco / tropical / balearic scene which is a small yet international world.
What is your main source for finding new music?
Social Media, 🏴☠️ *Pirate noises* 🏴☠️, YouTube and its horrible algorithm, Discogs.
If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?
A modern movie but taking place in the 70s/80s/90s. Just like Mid 90s by Jonah Hill, or a documentary shot with vintage gear like the Super 8 cam.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight!
