Mixed Feelings | The Blacksmith

Writer's picture: steppinintotomorrowsteppinintotomorrow

A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: The Blacksmith, a rising DJ from Amsterdam.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.

Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?

The feeling I want to convey is that I want to get people to vibe and feel good! Imagine a beach party in the summer or a good day at the park with your friends just chillin' and dancing.

What message does the music you play convey?

There is a mix of different genres that I like to play, like a whirlpool of emotions.

I would like for people to enjoy the different kinds of music, with edits of songs that were popular back in the days and then mixing it up with songs that people maybe don't know, it's kind of a surprise hahaha. Getting people out of their comfort zone is my thing!

How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?

I have quite the broad music taste, but my main thing is that I want to groove and feel that every day is a good day (shout-out to Ice Cube)!

Who should release a new album/EP already?

I know it's never gonna happen, but Outkast for sure T_T

What's magical about music?

The magical thing for me is that it conveys the feeling of the artists to the listeners and that people can relate to the music, so that connects all kinds of people together. Music helps with so many things in life on a mental level that I almost cannot imagine that some people don't like to listen to music in any kind of way. It for sure helps me a lot in life!

What is your main source for finding new music?

Bandcamp, Social Media, 🏴‍☠️ *Pirate noises* 🏴‍☠️, YouTube and its horrible algorithm, Beatport and Soundcloud.

If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?

This is a tough one, but if I had to say, It would be a house party/BBQ party where everybody is dancing through the whole house and garden till late in the night.

I hope that everyone who listens to my mix enjoys it and continues to spread positivity in life! If it's through music or something else, just do you and people are sure to connect with you!

Also check out The Akatsuki Collective on Instagram, I heard from "sources" that they are crazy upcoming with lots of different styles of music!
