Mixed Feelings | Vasco

A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: Utrecht-based cratedigger and soulful selector Vasco.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.

Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?

Melancholic feelings, feelings of being overwhelmed, and an explosive feeling of excitement.

What message does the music you play convey?

Time to ease the mind, contemplate, regenerate, love, and join the daily stream of life again.

How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?

Over the years I came to the conclusion that I need lots of time to get to know music in such a way that I can play it out loud. While I keep searching for new and old stuff, I always look back to the music that I became familiar with. This recording has a selection of songs that became very dear to me over time. Though I play them often, I find that they don't lose their power. As the local record store owner usually says to me: Too much music, too little time. Better take all the time you need, it's not a race.

Who should release a new album/EP already?

Brian Auger.

What's magical about music?

It eases the mind, makes you forget, gives hope, brings people together, helps you to reflect and contemplate, and above all; It makes you move in the best ways.

What is your main source for finding new music?

Streaming services, Bandcamp, Discogs, Record stores.

If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?

That's all up to the listener.

Hope you enjoy it, friends!
