PREMIERE: Mista Monk & Inkswel - 'Fire In The Belly' ft Planetself.

Get a first listen of this soulfully seasoned MC from Australia who's about to release his debut solo album after 20 years of experience in groups and on stages.

Mista Monk is a Melbourne-based MC & producer with Zimbabwean and Australian roots. With this mixed DNA he's always been conscious of the different worlds and cultural crossroads. A great example of that knowledge being used is when he co-founded the, aptly titled, live hiphop band Culture Connect in the early 2000s. Currently Monk is an active performing member of the afro-jazz group Black Jesus Experience, who frequently toured with the original Ethio-jazz pioneer Mulatu Astatke and just released an album with him in 2020 called To Know Without Knowing.

"Food for thought and wild rhythmic explorations on the deeper end of the spectrum."

Having over 20 years of experience on the mic explains the ease of his effortless flows. His voice is deep, strong and delivery playful at times. You almost wouldn't believe he's about to release his solo debut album with 'Muti'.

DJ, producer & label-head Inkswel is on full production duties for this one. This mans credits have a wide range all across the musical board, from house to modern funk, disco, broken beat and of course, lots of hiphop. In all he does there's always the essential soulfulness oozin' through. Inkswel has had an amazingly consistent work-flow for the last 10 years and collaborated with dozens of people like Kid Sublime, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Pugs Atomz, Blu, John Robinson, Amp Fiddler, Steve Spacek, just to name a few..

Mista Monk & Inkswel are both artists who are well-traveled and have lived on multiple continents, which is evident not just in the audible lyrics but in the universal feel throughout the album as well. The same gets confirmed once again when we take a look at the features: Illa J, Laneous, Reggie B, Colonel Red & People Without Shoes. This project will be one for the hiphop headz who love their sample-based productions warm with live vocal hooks, meaningful interview skits, well crafted beats and thought-provoking rhymes.

'Muti' gets released Friday Febr 26th via Inkswel's own imprint Inner Tribe Records.and you can get your first exclusive listen of the track 'Fire In The Belly' here today!
