The Hungarian bassist/producer drops his first beat-tape called Sketch Tape Vol.1 and takes you down to the funkier side of the Budapest sound in these 18 instrumentals.
Tomi Heilig is a bassist/producer from Budapest, Hungary and has been active for plenty of years as an original member of the musician, producer & DJ collective Solqlap Budapest (formerly known as SoulClap Budapest). They've been a staple in their local scene for the past 10+ years and are known for pushing the boundaries while never losing the warmth in their sound. Just last year they released three incredibly tracks with British vocalist Emmavie which we recommend you to check out. Another great collaboration was the track they did in 2016 with Amsterdams own vocal powerhouse Sarah-Jane.
On this first solo tape there's a fine balance in the use of old vintage samples and additional live instrumentation. Tomi's low-end vibrations glue together all the elements and accommodate a smooth ride. All beats are fairly short, but thats why it's called a sketch tape. We're already looking forward to the next project he'll do and in the meantime: MC's, go get your dose of soulful beats!
To accompany the laidback bounce grooves Tomi went for the visuals of various old school cartoons to fit the vibe of the 18 instrumentals. The visuals have been edited by AIWA.
